Minor Illness
We’re available to get those minor, unpredictable problems addressed. Examples of minor illnesses are ear infections, allergy issues, urinary tract infections, skin infections, mild GI issues (acute vomiting or diarrhea) as well as some minor wound and grooming issues. We are not able to perform surgery, produce radiographs (x-rays), perform full blood panels in-house or hospitalize ill patients. If you would like these services or think your pet needs these services, we would direct you to a full-service veterinary hospital. Examples of issues that should be addressed at a full-service hospital include known ingestion of a foreign material/toxin, any major trauma, or pet that has been ill for more than 24-48 hours.
Wellness
We offer comprehensive physical examinations for healthy pets. Additionally, we provide wellness blood testing for things like feline leukemia, feline infections immunodeficiency virus, canine heartworm disease and intestinal parasite testing. We offer vaccinations as well as preventative medications for fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites and heartworm disease.
Chronic Care
We can help you manage your pet’s long-term conditions, like allergies, endocrine issues and age-related illness.
Palliative Care
If your pet has been diagnosed with a disease like cancer or a disease that causes pain or reduced mobility, we can help. Senior pets are our specialty. We offer multi-modal treatment options to treat all of the ways their body’s process pain. Additionally, we have focused training in Chinese acupuncture and herbs that can help the pet have better quality of life.
Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM)
Acupuncture, herbs and food therapy are the cornerstones of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. Although we traditionally think of Acupuncture as a treatment for conditions that are painful, like arthritis, it can provide benefit for almost any condition. In TCVM, a diseased state is due to an imbalance within the body. Chinese herbs and acupuncture can help the pet’s body balance the energies that promote well-being. Food therapy is another branch of TCVM that can make tremendous improvement in many conditions. Scheduling a holistic examination with us is the first step to learning more about your pet and their unique predispositions and treatment options. While a great deal of attention is focused on disease management with TCVM, it can also be used preventatively. Even in health, TCVM can tell us what conditions an individual will likely be predisposed to over the course of their life.
Integrative Medicine
To us, “Integrative Medicine” or “holistic medicine” means using all of the tools available to promote comfort and well-being. For simple issues, traditional medicine will often provide the fastest resolution of the issue. For more chronic or deeper issues, or a pet with a multitude of issues, TCVM may allow us to gradually resolve each issue with the hope of maintaining a better-balanced pet with limited side effects from chronic medications and treatments. Integrative medicine also means that we can work with your current doctor, even if they’re seeing a specialist like an oncologist or surgeon.
Hospice Care
If you are questioning your pet’s quality of life and wondering if now is the time to allow them to pass on, we can help. We can evaluate your pet, their current treatments and see if we can modify a plan to give them more time. However, if the time has come for our established patients, we can help your pet pass in the comfort of your home and arrange for cremation, if you wish.
